Recovery Benefits of Exercise
The mission of every Recoveryfit Group is to give clients a firsthand experience of the recovery benefits that come from exercise, activity, & movement. This structure in outlined in the Instructor’s Guides for each principle in our program. However, a combination of the following benefits should be included & discussed to begin each group:
-
Better Health
Most people start an exercise program to look & feel better. In recovery, we now get the opportunity to nurture rather than neglect our bodies
-
Stress & Anxiety Relief
Physical activity can reverse the detrimental effects of stress & anxiety by increases in serotonin & dopamine levels in the body
-
Depression Relief
Physical activity can help address the symptoms of depression by increasing endorphin levels in the body leading to an elevated mood
-
Increased Energy
Contrary to what we might think, when we have low energy the action of taking physical activity will actually increase our energy levels
-
Sleep Better
Exercise through the day can help increase more restful sleep by tiring the body & slowing the mind
-
Higher Self-Esteem
When we do positive things for our body we feel better about ourselves. Taking action on the physical plain allows us to look & feel better increasing our self-image
